Thoughts on the year

Another year is coming to an end.
Should we be happy, or sad?
Comtemplative mood or one of festive cheer?
This year, it seems different.
I cant describe it.
Old memories fade away, while sweet ones linger long after they're gone.
Old friends suddenly appear in the form od SMS-es. and mobile greetings.

' To end off the year, let's just reflect and move on.'
Many a good friend has told us that, but, really, how many of us, actually did embrace the journey?
Do we only remember them when festivities draw close?

The good old hangouts and gatherings, how laughter filled the air.
Friends. oR dare i say, victims of everyone else.

Friends of convenience, as a rather close friend would call it.
Friends of friends?
This is but a small world.
Even u reading this now, i guess in some way, some distant friend connects us.

Thus, the golden ties, on looking back.
I do hope and pray that my 2010, as it draws nearer, will bring me good cheer, and new company.

Deep reflective thoughts as it may seem,
I am certain everyone has, at a point in time, comtemplated about these.

To a great journey ahead, to golden ties, to family and friends, and everyone i know,
As the champagne bottle goes *pop*, let's all celebrate the brand new year, with new experiences, and renewed hope.

HAPPY 2010....

Longest journey...

I was feeling adventurous after my uniform fitting today.
I hopped on the first bus that came, and found out that it passes by a place i needed to go to next week.

So I decided not to bring out my PSP, to stop practising and just admire the landscape.
The bus journey was alright, but the next journey was ardous.

I regretted my decision to keep my PSP.

From Toa Payoh to Jurong East, I saw that it took 45 min. I secretly hoped that the train driver would hit the accelerator.
In the cabin, I had to stand. So i did.

walked to the more quiet and serene place, hoping to get a little peace. walked somemore, to the door. Peeked at the train itinerary, checking out the number of stations i had to endure. Passed by the field of forestry, beautiful lakes, and more forest.

Yawn. I'm still in the train.

Finally, it's Yew Tee. Then, 4 more stations!!! walked over to the seat, and waited somemore.

Gosh! even from Tampines to Jurong East, it takes probably the same time, but hey, I was at the central, and it took 45 min?
I'm now more thankful for the East West line. Haha.

I've learnt my lesson. When feeling adventurous, always switch on the instant entertainment.

An outing.

I walked past this particularly snazzy shop, that was loud and wild.
It drew my attention immediately. I had to go in. However, it was shoes. And I already have a lot of them. But the designs were not very flattering for my feet type. I liked the caption of declaration on the attitude that a rubi shoe fan would have. It's really bold. :) Love it. For the shoe fans shopaholic, who are into rubi, here's the link, and yep!  attitude-rubi!!!

http://www.cottonon.com.au/rubi-shoes

yea, and I've decided. I will and shall embark on my exercise routine. dont wanna be a computer couch potato. :)

Also, thanks to brandon for bringing me to a beautiful place, that I can get gifts from, and I've discovered a new favourite place. Although sadly, it will be moving out soon. Hopefully I still get the chance to visit their new shop. Love the world that i am transported to when I step in. 'K'rafters' Paradise at Midpoint Orchard, for scrapbooking and all other arts and crafts. :)

To be transported via your own home: http://www.kck.sg/2%20Hobby%20&%20craft_kck_die%20cut.htm

Have fun!!!

What are you looking for?

I have to share this with you. I find it very meaningful, and hopefully you will too. Perhaps you might have read about it. I came across this book in my house, titled "Still Proclaiming Your Wonders: Homilies for the Eighties" by Walter J. and Burghardt, S.J.

"A cold Sunday indeed. It's not yet Lent, and already i'm preaching the cross. Only because the cross is not a season, like winter; the cross is in your Christian skin. Which suggests my third point, the questions Jesus out to his disciples-to-be: "What are you looking for?"  Why have you turned to Jesus? Why do you turn to him now?
Frankly I don't know; only you actually know. Some Christians turn to Jesus because they were turned to him as children; it's 'all in the family'. Some turn to him because He's a security blanket; with Him around you don't have to look under the bed. Some turn to Him because He's a problem solver; He gives you answers, especially in tough exams. Some turn to Him when they need a miracle; He's the God of the impossible, heaven's own "incredible hulk"----or "Wonder woman".

But the genuine disciples of Jesus turn to Him simply because they have been called, because Jesus has whispered "Follow me."  Oh, they may well have suckled on Christian milk; they may find their security in Jesus; they know He can give answers and pull rabbits out of human hats. But none of these explains why they believe in Him, abide in Him, bring others to him. None of these explains why they are ready to suffer with Him. The only good reason is, Jesus has called.
He has called you. I'm not going to argue that point. It's not only Mother Teresa and the Archbishop of Warsaw who are called. The basic Christian call is baptism. There, by God's gracious turning, you first turned to Jesus---perhaps with a protesting howl. But turning to Jesus is not a one-shot affair. Conversion is a ceaseless process, like growing. You should be constantly turning to Jesus, looking for something. For what? Above all, for a person. Unless Jesus is real to you, as real as your closest friend, you will at best be a lukewarm disciple. It is the prayer of Ignatius Loyola, the song of Godspell: Let me know you more clearly, love you more dearly, follow you more nearly.
But that is not a logical process---know, then love, then follow. Like Andrew and Peter, you will come to know Jesus only if you 'come and see', only if you say yes to Him: yes to joy, yes to sorrow, yes to your brothers and sisters, yes to Christian living. Only if, like Samuel, the boy who "did not know the Lord", you respond: Speak Lord your servant is listening. It's faith's leap in the dark, after the model of Mary, the perfect disciple. Not knowing all she was called to, knowing only that it was God who called, she murmured a total yes: " Let it happen to me according to your word". Follow Jesus and you will know Him; live like Him and you will love Him; abide in Him and you will die with Him. Can you think of a better way to go?
Dear friends: Twenty-five years ago, that remarkable monk Thomas Merton exclaimed ecstatically how glorious a destination it is to be a member of the human race. How glorious to be a man or woman! Yes indeed. But it is still more glorious for a man or a woman to be a disciple of Jesus. You may have gotten that title without knowing it; you surely got it without deserving it. The question is, 'Are you living it?' It's a full time job. Not that you are always thinking of Him, but that you are always thinking like Him. Reproducing not what He did but the love with which He did it. Crucified not with nails, only with the anguish of the little ones for whom He died. Completing in your flesh, as St. Paul puts it, "what is lacking in Christ's afflictions" for the sake of the Christian body.
What are you looking for? The question stems not from me but from Jesus. From your answer, you should learn a good deal about yourself---how convinced and passionate a disciple you are. For the question in another form is the question Jesus put to His disciple Peter after several years of discipleship: 'Do you love me?'

Brillant idea, blasted by wrong communication

One freaking step closer to being absolved of the term tonedeaf and i had to blast it thru.
What was i thinking.

My friend was just being sweet, and helpful, to teach me how to play the guitar, and he just doesnt understand.
or maybe he thinks that ALL guys are dirty. BUT how could you say that?? We're classmates, friends, so what's wrong?? NO way that this guy and me will ever be interested in each other. We totally hate each other's guts.
Totally hate his guts.

oh well, better this way then. Perhaps he has a surprise for me:)
He always does.

Lodestone

helping a fool, letting the blind take the lead, i wandered into a field of daisies, only to be lost.

Counting my daisies, I tried to get out, but to no avail.
Sadly, i discovered that my compass was stolen.
All that was left of it was the protective casing.

Can the blind guy see??? for him to sense that it was a compass....
Or did the needle drop out accidentally?

Turning around, I found out that most of my accessories were on a huge stone. It was attracted to the stone.
Nearing it, I found out it was a lodestone. I had forgotten my main purpose in coming to the muesum of gigantic mysteries. Ha. Engrossed in my search for the different daisy, I found a beautiful sunflower instead.

Seriously.

Seriously...

I wonder what is wrong with the people i meet? They seem to be more interested in themselves then others. It's alright to be interested in yourself, but a fine line between conceitedness and self love exists!!! Come on. The world is not just about yourself.

Fight back??? By all means. I dont give a shit. Cos after all you are just defending the person in the mirror.

i hate these people.

gone

i was in a flight, about to touch down. I hate this part of the flight. Ever since i stopped travelling for 11 or 12 years, i’ve been experiencing these symptoms.

I look out of my cosy window seat, and gasped. the sky was rosy, and bathed in the after sunrise glow. I had never had the opportunity to witness such a beautiful sunset. but in a few seconds, all i saw was the nearing countryside. The airport was cramped with tourists everywhere. I was upset, that i rejected the company of friends, glad that i was alone. Some how. Confused.

So this is what country living felt like. Being alone, i was taking my time to enjoy the lush hills and scenic mountains. Suddenly, i heard a familiar voice calling out to me. It was him. My heart did a little flutter. I turned, only to be greeted by the chirping of the birds. I was still in denial. why? why? why?

Why did events take such a turn?
He was always there for me, every single time. Even when he was absorbed in his gaming sessions, he never forgot to call. Now, I wish I had been more attentive, more careful with my words, more observant.

He cared for me like no other. He helped me through my sorrows, even sacrificing his love for my happiness. Eventually, he won me over. Still i was doubtful. I doubted him. He always told me to live for the moment, enjoy each and everyday, not to worry and fret over nothing. I listened, but I doubted.

I should have listened with all my heart. now that he’s gone, he would have asked for the same, for me to be happy. All he wanted was me to be happy. His smile, his hug, and his presence. Now, there’s only memories.

We had so many good times together…

In my wallet, he smiles back at me from a time long past. Our first dinner date, where he tried to be friendly.
I still remember how i gave him a hard time, but softened after dinner. I let out a soft giggle. Cooking meals for each other, having sleepovers, movie marathons, etc..

Memories came flooding back and so did my tears.

One of the most cherished memory was the beach. He brought me to a park, asking me to accompany him on a night blading session. I agreed, and let him take the lead. He led me to a place, and since I had night blindness, he carried me over to a patch. Once I was on the grass, he whipped out his package, comprising some fruits and snacks. He told me that we would be camping here for the night. I didnt quite believe him, as he was a homely guy who would never camp out unless he had too.

‘Hey sleepy head, gd morning!!!’ I yawned, only to be greeted by the vast beauty of the sunrise.

We were planning so many things to do together. We had finally accomplished our dream of a mini bakery bar, and it was slowly but surely gaining popularity.

I never knew that our time together would be cut short. If i could, I would turn back time. hold him once more, tell him that i will not doubt him anymore.

I was hit, in the shoulder. An apple dropped on me. I had forgotten that I was under a huge apple tree. I had come to the countryside in the hope of taking a break, after a month of his passing. I needed to recover, but i couldnt. he was a part of me and i still could not accept the fact.

I still remember the day.

I had just finished cooking breakfast, and had set the table, when i heard a loud thud. I turned to see him behind me, on the floor. He looked at me, and said, ‘i love you’. I was in shock, he was healthy. I tried to get him to look at me, but he was gone. Gone. Right before my very eyes. the ambulance came, and the doctor said something… I couldnt hear him… didnt want to hear him…

I didnt know what to do. All i knew was that my love was taken from me.

I decided it was time to move on. I couldnt be stuck in a rut. He wouldnt want that.

‘Jane, remember I’ll always be with you.’ This was what he had told me a few years back, when I was trying to make a tough decision, on whether to travel on business.

It was a whisper, but i heard it clearly. ‘Tory, is that you???’ I asked silently. Suddenly, another apple dropped in my hand. I heard him in my head. Motivated by his words, I managed to get a bus down to the motel. I decided to enjoy myself. This is going to work. I will be happy again, for Tory.

Earth Interview

Me: Good morning, world. How are u doing? It's been awhile.

World/Earth: Hi there!! I'm getting really pissed. Not doing good. U people don't cherish what you have till it's gone, huh??

Me: Sorry, you lost me there for a while. Why are you so pissed? I thought you were doing great.

Earth: GREAT?? Wake up and smell the forest. Look, kiddo. your planet Earth here, is gonna to explode sooner or later. But your generation is not helping. They should have realised long ago that changing habits when global warming has started will NOT alleviate my problems. I have a BIG hole at the arctic, if you don't already know. Your lovely polar bears are suffering, killing each other to survive....*pauses* I'd like to wonder how humans would survive if there were no more resources for him. Perhaps, that day is DOOMSDAY.

Me: You mean that WE humans should have heeded the scientists when they predicted the global warming signs and such?? so I wont get to see glaciers, or even icy peaks of mountains soon?

Earth: Yup. :) Pretty much. Glaciers, hmm, they are melting away.... like the ice shelves. Icy peaks, hmmm, good question. I guess if the icy peaks really disappear, then I've gotta say, good luck, the time is ending.

Me: Ok, all this talk is scaring me. Some happier news?

Earth: Happier news? Well, nothing much. The green effort is not even making any impact yet. So what good news do you want? Maybe, you should go and play the Michael Jackson song, EARTH SONG. it was written for me, I love that guy. The music video shows everything that is happening right now. Yup. Happier, hmmm... you bothered to find out what's wrong. But I'd be happier, if you helped in your own way.
Some facts, plastic water bottles are causing me a helluva sore throat, with all that carbon dioxide and other gases. Please. Do something about it. AND more TREES. I love trees. They're like my lungs.

Me: Hmmm... I'd spread the word. Hope that helps, and Please, Earth, let me see the glaciers, polar bears, penguins and all.

Earth: Then go do your part. :)

Dolls, and the growing obsession with beauty

First there was Barbie.
Then there was Blythe.
But pardon me, this is only my opinion. you are entitled to your personal opinion.

yes, i was part of the barbie phase. Hence my Barbie-biased defence is that,
1. Barbie looks perfectly like a doll.
2. Barbie, NEVER, and i repeat, NEVER, got a chance to scare the **** outta me.
3. Barbie is fun. Sweet innocent fun.
4. Barbie has her own stylist.-me

yes, i could go on and on. The other doll lovers will be mumbling 'come on, (respective doll) is exactly like the above!!!'
okay, fair enough.

But, to me, Blythe is

1.scary.
2.just disproportionate.
3.too weird.
4.having too many contacts change.
5.severely emaciated.
6.totally not like a doll.

Why? I grew up in a time where dolls were supposedly 'playfriends' of we young girls. some(doll) that we look forward to playing with each day.
And also, we took a revelation in their clothes. We mimic their fashion sense, thus we grow. Beauty comes into the picture.
But as time passes and we girls passed the stage of dolls, we formulate our equivalent fashion sense. We start observing others.
But (pardon me, this is only my opinion. you are entitled to your personal opinion) has it gone too far in a way? Having read about how some females actually speak to their dolls, and bring them on shopping sprees, i wonder how the next generation will be like.

It's almost like asking, since when did the mobile telephone become indispensable?

Blythe, was a model for photography. yes, she, as a doll, is photogenic.
Because you get to shoot her at different angles and countless clothes changes after, she keeps mum. Perfect model.
I saw some Blythe fashion shoots, and, yes, she looks good.

http://www.blythedoll.com/eng/news/080711_PCYA_sia.jpg
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ryuphotostudio/3198642920/

this is a website that is a celebration of style, and beauty:-http://www.trustyourstyle.com/2006/07/blythe-life-i-just-received-these.html
Great photos on the Blythe website too.

But then again.
Did anyone notice that the female, not to mention human, anatomy is NOT big head, small body.

Even at a toy shop, she scares me away with those huge eyes.
It's funny if you think about it. why would a doll scare you away???
I am not a Blythe fan, though i do appreciate the photos/posters.
Just one grouch.

It creeps me out. Pardon my imagination, i imagine a lady, on a shopping trip, asking her blythe,
'Blythe, dear, do you perfer royal purple or teal?'

ok, back to my farmville and restaurant city. lolx

Transformers

I would very much like to write a review on transformers: revenge of the fallen, but I dont want my review to be a spoiler.

Thus, a snap-summary.

Overall, it's a adrenaline packed movie, and I love how the director actually deals with the family bonds, loyalty, etc..
Plus, the cast gives a solid performance. It's a rare opportunity that all cast members actually support each other to come up with a stunning performance.

Just maybe, maybe, Bumblebee, was a little too emo for a bot. but, what can i say, bot and boy were so close.
the effects were great, though the symbols were a bit too historical for me.

Re: Michael Jackson

MJ, it's just you.

Right now, my thoughts are mostly on the late michael jackson, ---i hate addressing him this way--- and his tribute.
It was touching, and soulful. it ate to the core of my person.
when the lady from the house of state, i think it was Ms. Jackson-Lee, presented MJ with Resolution 600, I was close to breaking down. I was thrilled to know that MJ had contributed so much of his professional life to the world, but saddened by the fact that he will never know it.

However, MJ wouldnt have minded. He gave and gave without the need for anything back.
While researching on Resolution 600, i was in awe of the impact that MJ made in these people's lifes. MJ truly made the world a better place.

Brooke Shields' eulogy was equally touching, and personal. In the very moment that she took to the rostrum, she shook her head to request that the audience not clap for her. I was moved by this very simple act, it shows her character, it shows she knew that MJ was the one who was more deserving.

Add to the fact that MJ had a favourite song, which told of happiness, which told of a universal truth: Smile, and the world smiles with you.

I will always remember Michael Jackson, not for all the tabloids, but for his songs, and his smile. And i hope you do too.

Random...

ello..

i'm back.

Well, back from a stuffed friday, from a tweeny part of hokkaido fair at Tampines Mall and watching transformers.

Stuffed? you ask...

Looking around, and walking around the crowded mini booths, we saw the hairy crab, most prob a huge yummy one, costly $400+ (yeah, SGD. so guess in YEN it's much higher). a few more secs of walking and we pass by a tasty smelling crispy flakey crunchy CROQUETTE stall.
There goes the 5...Darling comes out with a POTATO croquette, and a PUMPKIN croquette.

THEN... the ramen stall. Supposedly, we were huge fans, of RAMEN. but for some reason, we didnt try to queue, just yet.

So on we went, till we reached the front, with this huge poster of the MANJU CAKE.
And me, being the jap flour cake person that i am, just had to queue up to buy it.
precious 15min just for 4 manju cake----2 red bean and 2 custard.

okay, so after TRANSFORMERS: revenge of the fallen, we were back there. AGAIN.

this time at the RAMEN stall, and we couldnt decide.
A bowl costs 16SGD.
YES/ NO/YES/NO....

in the end, i gave up.
rather save the 16, and eat something else.

okay, my stomach is growling. i wonder why.

Foodies

A day of culinary delights and surprises.

First thing in the morning, a little jumbled breakfast, of granola peanut butter balls, thereafter Auntie Anne's cinnamon raisin pretzel.

Of course, there was the Cold Storage trip, where we picked up beef tenderloin, curry powder, unsweetened chocolate, milk, butter, potatoes, carrots, and,... hmmm i cant seem to remember all.
Anyways, the resulting lunch:

Beef Stew with baguette
Chocolate Molten Cake
yup, a rich, satisfying and fulfilling lunch.

Ta ta, for now.

my EQ profile

My emotional profile! I'm above average. what a surprise, since i'm quite slow most of the time.

Your score indicates that you have an above average EQ.

People with an above average EQ are able to recognise and express their feelings without much difficulty.

You probably feel comfortable with intimacy and can give yourself to people. You are fairly happy with who you are and you are able to show love and empathy when it is appropriate. You also express your anger and aren't afraid of crying when hurt. You normally say the right things in the right moments but you can also admit mistakes and learn from them. You accept challenges and commitments and you have an optimistic and positive view of things.

All this make of you good friend and partner. However, there is always room for improvement.

Keep that positive attitude and continue working on relationships with people, goals and achievements, EQ can be always developed. There is plenty of information in books and in the Internet.

Good luck!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hmmmm.. it is rather accurate though. Creepy how stuff like these show you a side you never knew existed. :)

Assignment 1 and Jpops

Thinking on my feet

How do you question the question???

Was rather stumped by this particularly simple question, (yea, i know i'm slow), but, the thing is, I understand the meaning, but i cant seem to phrase the answer.

My answer of a example was so poorly structured, that it didnt sound convincing at all.
I need to brush up on my structure of spoken English.
On that matter, Assignment 2 is due next week.
To write out the questions that come to me, from my chosen question.

I will try to be hardworking and think think think!!!!:)

Jpops: Baby donuts
12 pairs of flavourful donuts, consisting of rather unique tasting donuts filled with cream.

Thursday, June 18, 2009

ok, on a hyperactive note, I am too enthusiastic. I am too hyper. I want to be able to think faster. Thus, to channel my thoughts faster, i went over-the-top and bought GP essay book.:)

I will blog about the assignments that were given to me, by Siang, my teacher in GP. hahah
I had a rather interesting astrology newsletter, and i must say that it was quite shocking.
The mentioned 'situation' drew parallels, thus i took a screenshot.

On another note, Restaurant City is significantly showing me my cluttered mind in the seating arrangements.

I'm looking forward to CommuniAsia trade show at Expo, the coming Saturday, and especially Monday.
It would mean I'm graduating!!:)

Ta da for now.

I like their marketing concept. It's really good, generates a curious and impressive buzz around it. Though i wish that I could find the seeds to grow plants such as these in my home. But, i guess Singapore's climate is too hot, too summery. Perfect for tropical plants. Sunflowers? hmmm.. not too sure, my sunflower's kinda stunted. waiting for it to bloom again.

i am suddenly addicted to Wonder Girls. Thanks to Louis. (:

confused, irritated, terminated

great…. the bandwidth is killing me.

ok, i have to remember what i wrote. DARN.

it’s been a rather weird day. didnt manage to really do anything, well except maybe playing plants vs zombies and laughing at our zombie friends. :) would that count? Hmmm.. I can only wonder. So it’s been like that. Saturdays.. are meant to be saturdays. Lazy. that’s why they came up with lazy saturdays? heehee.

Lack of food and perhaps not managing to accomplish much made me a bit jumpy, and maybe a monstrous polar bear. I’d rather i did something… even if it was mundane tasks, eg clearing my desk, or something. oh well…. LAZY.

So yes. Dinner was fried macaroni with sardine together with a side dish of nabai and minced meat, which was incredibly delicious, i believe i was smiling at the chef who prepared it. :) Thereafter followed a Malibu Dream and Orange Muffin from Coffee bean—–I guess it’s to balance off the lack of intake for the day?— together with salted popcorn, and lemon tea, and a wee bit of green tea. Haha. What a big appetite.

I had an invite to watch Terminator Salvation, though i must say that i really am still confused after countless explanations from a so-called ‘interested-but-not-interested-enough-to-be-a-fan’ fan of the series. haha. Maybe i didnt watch from T1 onwards. so yeah.

But, a BIG but, my opinion is that John Connor is a freak. cos he’s like an alien, going into and back and twisting and turning the events. the series just makes no sense. Even the Night at the Muesum series makes more sense. Okay, I know i sound crazy, but really. I see no point in watching all the terminator series cos i dont think i can remember ALL even if you gave me one day to finish them.

Seriously. Come on.

Call it the Terminator? But it’s so not terminating at all.

Vampires: Science or Fiction or Imagination

Vampires. Or Not?

Creepy and ridiculous at the same time. leave a comment? I wanna know what you think. Did they really exist??

Have read the 4 part of the famous twilight series.... and found out that darling is playing a vampire game, Blood Omen.

So basically, everyone is into the VAMPIRE scene. Haha...

Secret Garden

Am pretty much bothered that it’s going to be a long day. :(

I was watching Susan Boyle’s performance on youtube today, and actually she proved a point. That everyone out there, has a hidden talent, and it just happens that some are more lucky then others to be given a chance. yup i know it has been repeated several times, but it’s a fact. so yea, go Susan, fulfil ur dream.

i am quite motivated to clear my table, but i’m not starting. YET. wonder why. that’s besides the point.

I’m looking forward to the next day cos of this!! and it’s so exciting and fun, growing ur own virtual garden:)…. love it.

UNIQLO!!!

uniqlo at tampines one opened on the 9 of april. I was hoping the crowds would go away. But nope, they built up with time.

So it was that i would try to queue for fun.

to see if it was moving. **sorry i couldnt take pics, my phone conveniently lambasted it inability to select the camera mode. so ya, got into the queue and was rather surprised that I got into the store in just about 5 min. it didnt feel like 5min tho… and Mummy made it in too. ;) Haha, I expected mummy to casually browse and get bored and thus tell me to leave, but she literally stocked up the wares!!! lol

I managed to grab 2 skirts for 4.90, and a top for 6.90, while mummy got a bunch of tops for joshua for just 4.90 and a pair of sandals at just 2.90!! Discount hunter!!!

bought dearest 2 tops and a berms for 4.90 and 6.90 as well, so mummy gets all the expensive clothes!!! hahah.. but they fit her nicely. complements her well. Candy coloured too!!!

We also managed to dine at the KAPITANS by kopitiam, and the variety there was mouth watering. Landed up eating rice for tea. lol.

brought back memories.

mag cut outs(2)

OMG.... i cant stand sitting around all day.
Even with me doing stuff like packing my collection of CLEO, it still gets on my nerves.

I got too edgy today, thank goodness for a little fresh air to get some presents.

Ah, before i forget, some interesting articles, and misc stuff i managed to save.

Enjoy!!

The different types of 'pokky' that are supposedly suited to your star sign.

mag cut outs(1)

while saving bits of info that i needed, or think i needed, i accidentally cut my finger. ):
luckily i had a plaster box, stuffed with plasters for the klutzy me.

and i decided to use the sample size version of Dior Snow Sublissime Moisture Creme last night.

The results, as described below:

Bits of conversation between Piggie and me.
'What did you put on your face?', 'Moisturiser?' to which i nodded dumbly...
...AND THEN,
'Do you know that your face is glowing?' and I'm stunned into silence.

I went to check it out, and boy, it costs $135 for 50ml i think! And i'm incredibly horrified, cos it's absorbed so fast, I might just over do it.

The disastrous results on my purse....

SALTWATER CAFE

food adventures at SALTWATER CAFE, Changi Village Hotel

The Changi Village Hotel, part of the Far East Hotels, is a hotel with a beach resort theme. It has a lovely night views, and dining by the poolside.

Saltwater Cafe added new varieties to its buffet, with the Lok Lok Stall, Changi Crab Corner, TeppanYaki Counter, and Tiffin Curries Station.

Lok Lok is kind of a 'good old days' type of cooking, though i find it's about the same as steamboat, without the soup.
I must admit i got up quite a few times. i went to look around before deciding on what to eat. Headed straight for the Tiffin Curries Station, where i took a bowl of curry, and some rice, together with baked mussels, cray fish with black bean sauce, stir fried broccoli and cauliflower with fried toufu. I took a small slice of the prata too, though i thought it was weird, since i already had rice.

The curry, i must say is really good.

Next up, TeppanYaki Counter. I must really commend the teppan yaki chef. He's good!! The dou miao was crunchy and juicy at the same time, not to mention the black pepper beef, it was done to perfection! even for someone like me who almost always eats express teppan yaki, i must say that TeppanYaki Corner in Saltwater Cafe is really really good. not to mention the chef remembers you, and makes sure that your dishes is sent to your table!
P.S. I FINISHED ALL THE DOU MIAO.

Crabs? Well, I managed to try the chilli crab, and boy, it's delicious.

I managed to cook some quail eggs at the lok lok stall, and the Soup of the Day was Pea Soup, it was great. Just nice and creamy.

SaTuRdAy----ups and downs

What an eventful day.

I woke up to a light blue sky, with birds chirping, and looking forward to breakfast with sweetie.
Apparently, I guess he was a little too comfortable, hence the snooze.....

THE TURN
I'm up and ready, and made 2 calls, hoping to know if he was out. Unfortunately, no return calls from him. Called a few more times, and FInally called his home. Found out from his dad he was still sleeping. *sighs.
Went to get breakfast, and tried my luck Again. No luck. Ah well, I thought, I'd probably have to share it with my parents. ONE last try. His brother, finally picked up the phone.-----thx for letting me in!!!!
THE HEARTBREAK...

Turns out that my sweetie had sneezed too muuch and sort of fainted. on his bed. no wonder he couldnt hear my calls.

THE GOOD NEWS

He's alive and well, healthy, and very refreshed! Went to eastpoint after breakfast and shopped around for ROLLERBLADES....had a rather cosy tryout place in SPORTSLINK, and proceeded to cab home. Had some fun blading, before I landed with a bump. ON MY BUTT, whilst taking a step down, thankfully not on my tailbone.
the best part was teaching him how to blade, and hugging him tightly before he could fall. (:
So after the fall, we retreated to the balcony, to practise. He was really enjoying it, I can tell.
he actually requested for LATE NIGHT BLADING!!! YEA!!!

This I Might Edit = TIME

I do not know what to say, or blog about rather.
I feel upset. And frustrated. And happy. And thankful.

Upset that sometimes, I cant remember wth I had said or not said and it gets to the point where it's an argument. But heck, it's over, let's be happy, like you said. Thanks, for being magnanimous (i'm not sure if it's spelt that way), like you always are.

Frustrated that I cant help you to do the MIND MAPS. Also, I forgot. And you, are always so carefree, and it breaks my heart whenever I re-read that sms you sent while in the lecture.
Tell me, wont you, that you will do well, whether or not you continue playing WARHAMMER. I dont wish to sound like a nag/your mum, cos it's still up to you. I will support you in whatever you do, so I hope that will be a motivation for you.

Happy because, you , are always there for me, and you volunteered to help me build my garden, even though you will be entirely exhausted because although I can do carpentry, I'm not as skilled as you are.

Thankful for your caring ways.

To another great year ahead. (=

The NEWS

What an eye opener....

Obama berates 'shameful' Wall Street bonuses

President Barack Obama Thursday furiously slammed Wall Street titans who raked in billions in bonuses while taxpayers bailed out their industry as "shameful" and guilty of acute "irresponsibility."

Obama, anger flashing across his usually calm countenance, said bosses of big finance firms must sacrifice along with other Americans, as the country tries to dig itself out of a deep economic hole.

The president's ire was sparked when he read a newspaper article detailing the 18.4 billion dollars in bonuses collected by Wall Street firms last year, even as stock markets plunged and the economy slumped towards a recession.

"That is the height of irresponsibility. It is shameful, and part of what we are going to need is for the folks on Wall Street who are asking for help to show some restraint and show some discipline and show some sense of responsibility," Obama told reporters in the Oval Office.

"The American people understand that we have got a big hole we have got to dig ourselves out of but they don't like the idea that people are digging a bigger hole as they are being asked to fill it up."

Obama, speaking after meeting Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, said he would clearly spell out to Wall Street executives they have to act in a more responsible fashion.

There would be time for them to rake in profits and bonuses later in the economic cycle, he said. "But now is not that time."

"We're going to be having conversations as this process moves forward, directly with these folks on Wall Street," Obama said.

The president, who is piloting an 800 billion dollar plus economic stimulus plan through Congress, pledged to make clear that Wall Street fat cats must "start acting in a more responsible fashion, if we are to together get this economy rolling again."

He also brought up the case of Citigroup, which has taken funds under a separate 700 billion dollar Wall Street bailout, and nixed plans to buy a 42 million dollar corporate jet after the Treasury Department complained.

"Secretary Geithner already had to pull back one institution that had gone forward with a multimillion dollar jet plane purchase at the same time as they're receiving TARP money," Obama said.

White House aides said the massive bonus figures, divulged in a report Wednesday by the New York state comptroller's office, undercut Obama's appeal for all Americans to share in a new spirit of responsibility.

Total bonuses in the securities industry fell from 32.9 billion dollars to 18.4 billion dollars in 2008, the largest percentage drop in more than three decades, Wednesday's report said.

"But the size of the bonus pool is still the sixth largest on record," the comptroller's office said.

Vice President Joseph Biden also took a shot at Wall Street financiers in an interview with CNBC.

"It's been outrageous. I mean, it's just offensive, it just offends the sensibilities, I mean, I'd like to throw these guys in the brig.

"I do know what they're thinking and they're thinking the same old thing that got us here, greed. They're thinking, take care of me."

There was mixed reaction from Wall Street analysts to Obama's remarks.

"It's good politics for him to say that, but we have to realize that a lot of bonuses were paid on a contract basis, so many people worked on percentages," said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Avalon Partners.

"I am not defending the action of Wall Street and the bankers but I think that one needs to realize that Wall Street doesn’t work on salaries but on bonuses."

Alan Johnson, managing director of Johnson Associates, a New York-based compensation consulting firm, also understood Obama's anger, but said the situation was complicated.

"I understand the anger that the president has and most taxpayers probably have. I understand that emotional kind of reaction.

"Were they irresponsible? That’s a questionable thing, if you say, 'I’m not paying a bonus to anyone,' you’ll probably have several of these firms collapse, which would have been worse than people being angry."

A SPLURGE for CNY?

haha..

so there was the 'outing' to JP...the old + the new
suddenly it felt weird. I usually only frequent JP--the old one, as darling was nearby, or we had breakfast there.

Strangely enough, when it was time to go back to office, I SAW MY NEIGHBOUR.
hahah. well, maybe he was just entertaining his friend. :) Okay, the main topic of the day's highlight.

gripz

I only intended to purchase A PAIR OF SHOES.. but somehow I bought TWO PAIRS.. the other pair is kinda IMPULSE...lol...

well, darling actually smiled and I gather the ONE i intended to get is the BEST. oh well, at least he still gave it a pass for office style shoes.

Dead Sea Premier

Gosh, this had better be good. Firstly, Grace and I were 'entertained' by this lady named pei pei, i think. that's the name i saw on the screen for the POS system. maybe she's new, she was rattling on so fast i was BLUR. 100%.

PROs-- she let me try the eye serum on my eyes, and she didnt really know how to press so that a small amt will come out, so it was like a glob.

CONs-- too much serum. i dont think it is good, esp since my face is not clean.

in the end, cos i intended to get the serum, I did, and managed to sign up as a member. AND we both got free tubes of hand cream/lotion. Grace was pretty impressed by the service the more senior staff gave, that she was actually asking qns and listening.

Went to NTUC to prep for the cooking session as well. meet him there... and he remembered to bring the herbs.. HUGS to him...

all in all a great day. (;

N.E.W.

A new year, A new plan, A new route, A new everything..

Some times, it hurts.

I was springcleaning my room, and i found a tweety pendant from The Singapore Mint that my eldest brother had given me for Christmas way back in 1997. It really brought back memories. I was only Primary 5.. still very young and wreaking havoc everywhere..

Haha.. oh well...........

I guess it happens every year, during the SPRING CLEANING, where we're to throw the old.. to make way for the new. There are JUST some things that you cant discard. Not when it has SO MUCH MEANING in it.

Oh yeah, the plants.. Those who bought them, just a precaution..The bottle is made of glass, so be careful if you dropped it.

Enjoy..

Yep, I know i havent been posting pictures. My camera just takes the battery life away too fast...
let me get the batteries.........................................................
